Humanitarian assistance
What is humanitarian assistance?
Following an emergency, you may need help to put your life back to normality. Humanitarian assistance will help you whether you were directly involved, your friends and family, or you have been affected in any other way.
This may take the form of a centre, helpline or webservice. You will be signposted to various organisations for support, information, assistance as appropriate.
What information you can access?
You will be able to access information and assistance for:
- police inquiries and assistance
- health and counselling
- welfare and benefits
- housing
- social care
- legal and insurance
What to do when you arrive at a humanitarian assistance centre?
- make use of the facilities provided
- keep the relevant details of the humanitarian assistance and don’t be afraid to ask for help. You may be in shock and have a delayed reaction when you feel later on that you need assistance
- ask for as much help as you feel you need
